Beta Zeta History

Chartered in 1925, Beta Zeta Chapter is one of the largest and most distinguished graduate chapters in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Beta Zeta has always served as a beacon of light in the District of Columbia. The chapter works closely with its Amicae Adult Auxiliary group, and actively cooperates with the collegiate chapters in the District of Columbia, which include Alpha Chapter (Howard University), Kappa Alpha Chapter (University of the District of Columbia), and Sigma Pi Chapter with members at American University and Trinity College. The Chapter also sponsors Archonettes, Amicettes, and Pearlettes, which are the sorority's youth auxiliaries.

Beta Zeta Chapter currently sponsors a Stork’s Nest, a joint comprehensive program with the March of Dimes Foundation, which is designed to provide prenatal and post-natal care to teenage mothers. Beta Zeta Chapter also provides scholarships at the graduate, undergraduate, and secondary levels. In addition to being involved in community outreach and volunteer projects, Beta Zeta Chapter is also affiliated with the NAACP, NCNW, UNCF, Urban League, Women’s Commission, and the Washington DC Pan-Hellenic Council.
